As a staff nurse you can get the opportunity to deal with a variety of patients and in a variety of areas, here are some of the pros and cons involved:

Advantages

  • You are making a difference
  • The work can vary from day to day, stays interesting
  • There’s a lot of camaraderie among healthcare workers
  • There are many different opportunities
  • Flexibility – There are many part time positions available to nurses, giving flexibility.

DIsadvantages

  • You are exposed to a lot of illnesses
  • The job can be very stressful
  • Patients do not always want or appreciate help
  • You may experience grief
  • You may have to work nights, holidays or weekends
