Numbers for Nursing course down in C.A.O. 2015

This year’s C.A.O. applications revealed a very poor result the Nursing programmes saw a big drop-off in take-up, (2,098, or 6% less applications than in 2014). (TheJournal.ie)

So we ask the question what is the reason behind this? One would think that the negative media attention around the nursing profession.

Over the past few years mainly since the recession the Healthcare Sector has been hit with budget cuts, staff shortages as well as an increased demand.

The INMO Trolley Watch has consistently reported record breaking figures for a number of hospitals throughout the country who have patients left on beds in the corridors of emergency departments.

It is time for a change Nursing is one of the most rewarding professions out there. True it can be hard and demanding but the rewards reaped are like no other. Our Celebrate Nurses our everyday Heroes campaign’s purpose is to highlight how valued Nurses are in society and promoting the Nursing Profession. International Nurses Week is from May 6th to May 12th this year, use this as an opportunity to show a Nurse that your are thankful they decided to take nursing as a profession.
